Parentage: This week’s Orchid of the Week is a cross between Cym. Fred Stewart x Cym. Vieux Rose

The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:

Back to a real oldie this week! And a plant that has some fairly famous parentage too.

Bred by Santa Barbara Orchid Estate in California way back in the day, however it still has some appeal in the 21st century. A light pink petal peloric sporting over a dozen flowers per arching spike makes for a lovely display.

Both parents are very old, in fact over 60 years old, and their background is packed with very well known and sought after plants like Cym. Early Bird, Cym. Balkis, Cym. Alexanderi and Cym. Pauwelsii, among others.

The above image is courtesy of Orchid Design in California. They may have one if you contact them, who knows, it might be worth a shot!

Tracing this plant’s original species ancestors using Orchid Roots, Cym. insigne, Cym. lowianum and Cym. erythrostylum are the major species contributors of this plant!
