The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:
It’s getting on a bit now, the same age as my car in fact! But this week’s Orchid of the Week is another very nice white hybrid from New Horizon Orchids and Andy Easton. Made with an alba remake of Cym. Pauwelsii I believe.
In addition to the Cym. Pauwelsii parent, Cym. Beyond Therapy’s background is filled with very well known and successful plants like Cym. Sussex Dawn, Cym. Durham Castle and Cym. Alexanderi. So the bloodlines are good!
I’m not sure how wide the distribution of this plant is but given my collection is wide and varied, it wouldn’t be out of place seeing it in there. Another white worthy of inclusion in a hobbyists collection!
Tracing this plant’s original species ancestors using Orchid Roots, Cym. insigne, Cym. lowianum and Cym. hookerianum are the major species contributors of this plant!
