This week we head to Royale Orchids in New South Wales for a look at a very nice white Cymbidium flower. A fairly clean white Cym, with it’s dark pink spotted lip makes a very interesting and eye catching flower indeed.

Cym. John and Shirley has been bred by a very capable nursery who have produced some wonderful plants over the years and whites are still a classic. Very popular and a clean bright white always stands out in a crowd!

The ancestry tree of Cym. John and Shirley shows some very well known plants in the recent parents, such as Cym. Joan’s Charisma, Cym. Cronulla, Cym. Anna Szabo and Cym. Khan Flame, so there are some good genes on offer here!

This image has been borrowed from the Royale Orchids Facebook page, but if you’d like one of these, get in touch with them via their website at https://www.royaleorchids.com.au/ and see if they have any left.

Looking back at the original species ancestors of this plant, using Orchid Roots, Cym. insigne, and Cym. lowianum are the major contributors present in the distant background with Cym. eburneum being the third largest contributor.
