This week’s Orchid of the Week is… Cym. Amigos Vision ’20/20′

Parentage: This weeks Orchid of the Week is a cross between Cym. Khanebono × Cym. Sims Vision
Registered: 2023
The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:
This week’s Orchid of the Week is new breeding from 3 Amigos Orchids in South Australia. We haven’t had a lot of pink recently in Orchid of the Week, so I thought we might throw one in!
A wonderful shade of pink it is too, and set off by a bold red lip. It is a lovely rounded standard Cym. that should prove to be very popular with the hobbyists. Cym. Amigos Vision is a well thought out crossing, using two quality parents.
Sims Vision doesn’t have many registered offspring as yet, however it does have good genes in the background with Cym. Hazel Tyres being a parent and Cym. Sussex Dawn a grandparent.
Cym. Khanebono was bred by Scott Barrie at Barrita Orchids and has been awarded two Highly Commended Certificates and two Awards of Merit by the Australian Orchid Council since its release, so a quality parent it is. Cym. Khanebono has been very popular and is in wide circulation, and still readily available to purchase. With plants like Cym. Sensation, Cym. Spartan Queen and Cym. San Miguel in its ancestry tree there is no surprise it is as good as it is!
The above image was taken from the 3 Amigos Facebook page. Please contact 3 Amigos Orchids for details on how to get hold of this one, or check out their eBay listings to see if it is available.
Looking back at the original species ancestors of this plant, using Orchid Roots, Cym. insigne, Cym. lowianum, Cym. hookerianum and Cym. eburneum are the major contributors present in the distant background with a little of some others thrown in too.
