The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:
This week we showcase another interesting oldie! Registered by Elanor (Weegie) Caughlan who passed away in October 2025. Weegie played a prominent role in U.S. Cymbidium orchid history and this is one of her registrations, although I believe the cross originated with Geyserland Orchids and Andy Easton. However, Weegie exhibited the plant in 1995 and was awarded a High Class Certificate!
Cym. Rincon Music is a complex cross, going back at least 6-7 generations with lots of very interesting plants in the background, including Cym. Early Bird, Cym. Balkis and Cym. Rio Rita. There is a lot of Cym. Ceres in the distant background too.

Tracing the plant’s heritage using Orchid Roots, its primary species ancestors are Cym. insigne, Cym. i’ansonii and Cym. erythrostylum.
