The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:
When one talks about a bold labellum on a flower, I’m not sure they usually mean the whole lip! But wow, it certainly stands out!
Another Andy Easton cross, Cym. Jonás Kaufmannis a warmth tolerant miniature/intermediate with 24 blooms to a pendulous spike.
I guess it isn’t hard to see the Cym. Memoria Amelia Earhart grandparent in this one. However, Cym. Lauritz Melchior is an interesting hybrid in itself, and deserves a look. The primary hybrid Cym. Parish Madness, a plant that resides in my collection, is also one worthy of having a look at too.

Tracing the plant’s heritage using Orchid Roots, its primary species ancestors are Cym. sanderae, Cym. madidum and Cym. devonianum.
