The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:
I think this hybrid was just begging to be made! And thankfully it was! Cym. Sarah Jean is the most popular cascading Cymbidium orchid of all time, and Cym. Anna Szabo is a lovely upright standard, that has also been very popular over the years.
Registered by Barrita Orchids in New South Wales, the resultant combination is a lovely white intermediate with a very unusual and striking lip. You can see the influence of both parents in the progeny and I can only imagine how this would look in a multi-spiking plant. It would be gorgeous!
In the background of our Orchid of the Week we can find plants such as Cym. Hazel Tyres, Cym. Sleeping Beauty and Cym. Sussex Dawn, so some very well known and quality plants in the mix. And with most hybrids, there is a good percentage of Cym. Alexanderi in there too!

Finally, tracing the plant’s heritage through Orchid Roots reveals its primary species ancestors are Cym. floribundum, Cym. insigne and Cym. sanderae.
