Spots take centre stage this week, and George Hatfield has absolutely delivered a standout!
Recently, George has continued to impress with a steady stream of promising new releases. He’s put a lot of focus into breeding with Cym. canaliculatum, and judging by the seedlings now coming through, his efforts are really paying off. His breeding program keeps expanding the range of unique and exciting crosses available to growers.
One of the real highlights is Cym. Art Mendoza, which continues to stand out in the crowd. I’ve seen at least a dozen different cultivars so far, and honestly, every one of them looks fantastic! Regardless of which version you manage to track down, you’ll get masses of flowers presented on graceful semi-cascading spikes.
Since its release, Cym. Art Mendoza has proven itself repeatedly on the show bench. It even picked up accolades at the Santa Barbara International Orchid Show back in 2014, which quickly cemented its reputation as a top-tier hybrid with real presence and performance.
I’m genuinely excited to see what comes next. I do know that Ezi-Gro Orchids in Western Australia have already crossed it with Cym. Darch Wizzard, though I haven’t seen any photos of the results—yet!
