The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:
This week’s Orchid of the Week is a great looking Cym with wonderful dark flowers and a big bold lip. No real surprises here on where the colour comes from with Cym. Spartan Queen, Cym. Sensation and Cym. Tapestry in the near background!
It’s not a Cym you will see around very much these days, that’s for sure, but a good example of a really dark coloured flower. I’m not sure where you might fond one of these today, but there must still be a few out there, especially in the U.S.

Looking back at the original species ancestors of this plant, using Orchid Roots, Cym. insigne andCym. lowianum are the major contributors present in the distant background.
