The reason why it’s our Orchid of the Week:

Cym. Barrita Brilliance ‘Cookies & cream’ is our Orchid of the Week this week. And as Scott Barrie states on his website it is ‘One of my favourite Cymbidiums of all time. Dramatic dark lip on a clean white flower. This plant produces multiple, tall straight spikes in early Autumn. This flower sets a new standard in early flowering Cymbidiums.’.

I think I like this one almost as much as Scott himself! Early flowering clean whites are definitely a welcome things in my mind, and the lip is pretty awesome. Currently listed as sold out on the Barrita Orchids website, there has to be some out there somewhere!

I’m definitely looking to add this one to my collection sooner than later! I’m always after clean whites, so if anyone has one, please put me down for a division!

The above plant was grown and photographed by Scott Barrie from Barrita Orchids with the image having been taken from the Barrita Orchids website.

Looking back at the original species ancestors of this plant, using Orchid Roots, Cym. insigne and Cym. lowianum and Cym. hookerianum are the major contributors present in the distant background.
